WATER sampling and measurement of in-situ water quality parameters in the 19 identified monitoring stations are continuously conducted by the PRCMO as part of the Pasig River Unified Monitoring Stations (PRUMS) program.
Water samples are obtained from the 19 stations located in various areas within the Pasig River System, such as the main Pasig River’s stretch from Manila Bay to Napindan Channel, as well as in major and minor tributaries. Collected samples will then be submitted to the Environmental Management Bureau-National Capital Region (EMB-NCR) for analysis of fecal coliform, biochemical oxygen demand, and other water quality parameters.
Water quality monitoring is vitally important to identify and analyze trends based on the established parameters. Further, water quality data will aid in the accurate decision-making and formulation of strategic plans and programs on the rehabilitation and sustainable management of the Pasig River System.
