PBBM, distributed financial assistance to CARAGA Region following the LPA that hit the region last January 29 to February 3

ON Friday, February 16, 2024, President Bongbong Marcos Jr. visited Agusan del Sur to personally talk to Local Government Units (LGUs) officials in the region.

President Marcos Jr. was accompanied by Special Assistant to the President Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr., Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso Magno, Department of Agriculture Sec. Francisco Laurel Jr., DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan, DOH Sec. Teodoro Herbosa Jr., DSWD Sec. Rex Gatchalian, and DILG Sec. Benhur Abalos.

A total of P120 Million was distributed to LGUs in CARAGA Region.

Out of the P120 Million, P40 Million of which was given to Agusan del Sur; P15 Million for Agusan del Norte; P35 Million for Surigao del Sur; P10 Million for Surigao del Norte; and P20 Million for Butuan City.

The assistance was part of the P265 Million Social Fund of the Office of the President for affected LGUs of Eastern Mindanao.

The President vows to continue providing assistance to the affected families in CARAGA region, particularly access to medicine and potable water.

“We’ll continue to provide what we can but we have to have longer term, a more extended solution,” he said.

Thousands of families in CARAGA region were displaced due to the recent LPA.
