NASA Japan na si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., kasama ang Philippine delegation upang makibahagi sa Commemorative Summit para sa ika-50 na taong pagkakaibigan at kooperasyon ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at ng Japan.
Ang pagdalo ni Pangulong Marcos sa naturang summit ay kasunod ng imbitasyon ni Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
Bago umalis ng bansa, binanggit ni Pangulong Marcos sa kaniyang departure statement sa Villamor Air Base sa Pasay City nitong hapon ng Biyernes ang layong mapagtibay ang posisyon ng Pilipinas sa pandaigdigang komunidad at bigyang-diin ang pag-unlad ng ugnayan ng ASEAN at ng Japan.
Sinabi ng Punong Ehekutibo na ang huling ASEAN-related Summit ngayong taon ay isa ring pagkakataon upang i-welcome ang conferment ng Comprehensive Partner Status sa Japan, ang pinagkakatiwalaan at maaasahang katuwang ng ASEAN sa kapayapaan maging sa economic development at community-building sa nakalipas na 50 taon.
“I will highlight that the ASEAN-Japan relationship has inexorably evolved and progressed over the past five decades, particularly in shared commitments towards peace and security, trade and investment, food security, climate action, energy security, supply chain resilience, infrastructure development, and now, connectivity,” pahayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
Dagdag pa ni Pangulong Marcos, magsisilbi ring plataporma ang naturang summit para sa bansa upang makipagtulungan at makapag-uwi ng investments para sa Renewable Energy Industry na akma sa layunin ng Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) at Paris Agreement.
“On the heels of the ASEAN-Japan Summit will be the Asia Zero Emission Community or AZEC Leaders Meeting and I will apprise the AZEC Partner countries of the current Philippine initiatives toward promoting a clean energy transition,” aniya.
Ang Commemorative Summit, ay magtatampok ng tatlong sesyon na nakatuon sa loob ng ASEAN-Japan framework.
Ang unang session ay tungkol sa community-building efforts gayundin ang consistent support ng Japan para sa ASEAN Centrality at rules-based international order.
Itatampok naman sa ikalawang session ang “Heart to Heart” Partnership across Generations.
Ang huling summit program ay sa Co-Creation of Economy and Society of the Future, kung saan inaasahang dadalhin ng Pangulo ang Philippine economic team sa pangunguna ni Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual.
“I shall reassure ASEAN Member States and Japan that as permanent country coordinator for ASEAN-Japan Economic Relations, the Philippines will always continue to shepherd ASEAN initiatives and projects with Japan not only to co-create a region of economic prosperity, but also an inclusive society that is ready for the future,” aniya pa.
