PCG assesses lifeguard candidates in Samal Island

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a comprehensive assessment for 32 certified lifeguard candidates in Barangay Peñaplata, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), on 10 May 2024.

According to the Coast Guard Station (CGS) IGACOS, they underwent physical fitness and swimming qualification tests that are crucial evaluations to ensure public safety across various beach resorts on the island.

“This assessment ensured that participants are fully equipped and qualified for the water search and rescue (WASAR) and lifeguard training scheduled from 13 to 27 May 2024,” CGS IGACOS said.

The PCG works with the Samal Island Beach Resorts Association (SIBRA) to ensure a safe and memorable beach experience for local and foreign tourists.
