THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has supported the six-day Multilateral Maritime Event (MME) in connection with Exercise Balikatan 40-2025 in the vicinity waters off Zambales and Pangasinan from 24 to 29 April 2025.
The exercises included communications drills, division tactics, photo exercises, replenishment at sea, cross-deck landing qualifications, maritime search and rescue operations, and gunnery exercises.
Along with BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) were vessels from the Philippine Navy, BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS16) and BRP Apolinario Mabini (PS36); United States Navy vessels, USS Savannah (LCS-28) and USS Comstock (LSD-45); and from Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, JS Yahagi (FFM-5).
Balikatan 40-2025’s MME underscored a shared goal of ensuring a secure, stable, and rules-based maritime environment in the Indo-Pacific.
It also served as a platform where uniformed forces improve their collective readiness, refine operational teamwork, and stand firm against the region’s shifting maritime security threats.
