PH Navy affirms support to comprehensive archipelagic defense

THE Philippine Navy Flag Officer in Command Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr. assured the public of the Navy’s commitment to fulfill its mandate of defending the nation’s maritime territories and promoting regional peace and security during the celebration of the Philippine Navy’s 126th Anniversary Celebration on May 24.

Highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by the Philippines as an archipelagic nation, the Navy Chief shared that the PN is actively embracing the distinctive characteristics and vulnerabilities that come with the country’s unique position by implementing the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC).

“To fully support the CADC, we are committed to reorienting and enhancing our naval capabilities, focusing on external defense operations, strategic basing and deployment of forces, force restructuring, and defense cooperation,” he explained while also noting the PN’s ongoing efforts in completing programmed defense acquisitions to project naval presence and defend national waters.

With the significant progress that the PN achieved this year, the Navy Chief also shared the plans to continue strengthening PN logistics and support infrastructure,  developing an equipped and skilled naval force, and partnering with like-minded navies to promote peace in the region.

“We continuously seek to further our engagements and collaborative efforts with allies, partners, and like-minded navies to ensure the peace and stability of regional sea lanes and promote a prosperous maritime environment for all,” Vice Adm. Adaci Jr. said.
