THE Royal Australian Navy (RAN) capped off a subject matter expert exchange aimed at enhancing and strengthening the Philippine Navy’s maritime sustainment and seaworthiness capabilities with the Naval Sea Systems Command from February 17 to 19, 2025.
NSSC Commander Rear Admiral Juario C Marayag PN welcomed Captain Emma McDonald-Kerr, RAN Defense Force Attaché, for a courtesy meeting. Both sides expressed interest for the three-day exchange, which followed the initiatives from Exercise SAMA-SAMA 2024. The cooperation highlighted the mutual commitment to improving naval capabilities and fostering closer ties.
During the closing ceremony, Captain Michael Ian I Gavilan PN, Acting Deputy Commander, NSSC, underscored the exchange as a critical step toward future defense collaborations, expanding opportunities for interoperability. He also thanked the RAN for sharing valuable best practices in logistics support, maintenance, and repair, reinforcing the vision for enhanced naval operations and long-term maritime security.
