PM assures 20 Thais hostage by Hamas are safe

ONGOING efforts to rescue nearly two dozen Thai hostages taken captive by the Hamas are now bearing fruits after the majority of them have been declared safe.

The news brought hope to the devastated families of Thai hostages who have been waiting for news about their loved ones.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said the 20 Thai hostages are being transferred to a new location until they are released.

Srettha thanked Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for relaying him the information regarding the whereabouts of the Thai citizens kidnapped by Hamas.

The number of Thai workers taken hostage by the Palestinian militant group has increased to 23.  However, the whereabouts of the three other hostages are not yet known.

The news comes less than a week after the prime minister announced it will be sending a cabinet minister to the Middle East amid efforts to release all the hostages taken captive by Hamas.
