PM slams Israeli employers for delaying salaries of Thai workers

THE government of Thailand accused Israeli employers of exploiting Thai workers by delaying their salaries in an attempt to retain them at such a critical period in Israel.

Thousands of Thai workers have already volunteered to return to Thailand as fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas entered its third week.

Srettha called the alleged tactic “unacceptable” and emphasized that he wanted all Thai workers to return home to ensure their safety.

The 61-year-old prime minister assured that the government has secured them employment opportunities in Thailand with reasonable wages.

Srettha revealed that he had contacted the Israeli ambassador to Thailand Orna Sagiv, to discuss the issue.

The Israeli ambassador said she was unaware of such allegations and promised to investigate the matter.

Some Thais however chose to stay in Israel due to the importance of their jobs.

The prime minister also emphasized the ongoing uncertainty regarding the condition of the 19 Thais abducted by Hamas.

At least 30 Thai nationals reportedly died from the conflict.
