Prisoners escape from Pakistani Jail; Manhunt underway

POLICE in Pakistan are on a manhunt for at least 13 prisoners who escaped from a jail in the southwestern province of Balochistan.

According to Balochistan Inspector General of Prisoners, Malik Shuja Kasi, the incident happened as the prisoner’s overpowered guards during morning prayers, injuring 2 officers.

In line with this, one inmate was killed in the clash, two others were wounded before the police fired at the group, and one prisoner surrendered, but 13 are still on the run.

The escaped prisoners were awaiting trial for crimes like murder, robbery, and drug possession.

Note, the jail is near the Afghan border, raising concerns that they may have fled to Afghanistan.

As of now, 10 officials, including three police officers, have been suspended and the authorities are actively searching for the remaining escapees.
