Putin backs Israel’s right to defend itself, urges for two-state solution

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin has voiced support for Israel’s right to self-defense against the recent aggression of Hamas.

Putin noted the brutality of the attack and expressed concern over the escalating violence in the Middle East.

He attributed this crisis to flaws in U.S. foreign policy and Israel’s settlement activities.

The Russian President cautioned against the potential consequences of a ground operation in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of avoiding civilian casualties.

He called for de-escalation and endorsed the United Nations’ two-state solution, which envisions a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem as the path to lasting peace in the Middle East.

These statements were made during a meeting in Kyrgyzstan with leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States, a group comprising former Soviet Union nations.

Israel, Palestine have displayed cruelty against each other—Putin

Meanwhile, Putin told reporters that Israel and Hamas have displayed cruelty and brutality against each other.

“Israel, of course, faced an unprecedented attack, which has never happened in history, and not only in scale, but also in the nature of its execution, in cruelty – well, what can I say? We must call things what they are,” Pres. Vladimir Putin, Russian Federation, said.

But, at the same time, Putin noted that Israel has responded on a massive scale using quite brutal methods.

He also warned against imposing a blockade on Gaza.

It can be noted that the unprecedented attack of Hamas on land, sea, and air also resulted on deaths of foreign nationals, including Russians.

According to the Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv, 4 Russians were killed, while 6 are still missing.

The Embassy has also advised all its nationals to leave Israel via regular airline connections while it is still available.
