Qatar, Turkiye sign new joint declaration during Erdogan’s visit

TURKISH President Recep Tayyip Erdogan‘s visit to Qatar ended with the signing of a joint statement during his official visit to the Gulf State.

Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani welcomed Erdogan at the Lusail Palace in Doha on Tuesday.

Both sides signed an official document that underlines their strategic partnership across a variety of fields including political, diplomatic, economic, and commercial sectors.

The two countries also pledged a $60 million joint investment to boost semiconductor production.

Erdogan also presented the Qatari Emir with the first electric car manufactured on Turkish soil as a gift during his visit.

The two leaders even took the time to drive around the palace to test drive the vehicle.

The trip was part of Erdogan’s three-nation tour in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE scheduled for this week.

The signing of the declaration took place as both countries mark their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
