Relatives of Ecuadorian drug trafficker ‘Fito’ Macias arrested by police

ARGENTINE security forces detained and expelled the relatives of fugitive Ecuadorian drug trafficker Jose Adolfo Macias Villamar, alias ‘Fito’, the head of the Los Choneros cartel.

Authorities conducted a special operation to arrest his wife and children.

A total of 8 people were detained, and they lived in a house in Argentina’s Cordoba Province.

All of them were deported by plane to Ecuador.

Reports say that the house that Fito’s relatives in Cordoba, Argentina had been purchased in November 2023.

Argentine authorities launched the operation to find the relatives after receiving information from Ecuadorian authorities.

Fito has been in hiding since early January of this year after he escaped from a prison in Ecuador, where he was serving a 34-year jail time.

After Fito escaped, various prison riots occurred in at least 6 jails in Ecuador, and a huge wave of violence engulfed the whole country, prompting President Daniel Noboa to deploy the military and police and declare a 60-day state of emergency.
