DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco welcomed executives from Robinsons Hotels & Resorts (RHR) today (Feb 6) at the DOT Central Office for a courtesy visit as a show of support for the DOT’s various initiatives aimed at bolstering Philippine tourism.
The visit underscores RHR’s commitment to collaborating with the DOT in positioning the Philippines as a prime destination for international travelers. Recognizing the country’s diverse offerings, world-class hospitality, and strategic location, RHR expressed enthusiasm in supporting DOT’s promotional efforts to attract high-value travelers to the Philippines.
Robinsons Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality arm of Robinsons Land Corporation, boasts a wide range of international and homegrown hotel brands strategically located across the Philippines. Led by Senior Vice President Barun Jolly, RHR executives emphasized their willingness to contribute to the DOT’s efforts by leveraging their premier properties, including Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Holiday Inn Manila Galleria, Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu, The Westin Manila, and the luxury Fili Urban Resort Cebu at NUSTAR Integrated Resort Complex in pursuit of DOT’s intentions for global competitiveness of tourist accommodations.
During the discussion, Secretary Frasco shared the Philippines’ opportunities as a possible destination for Indian weddings and MICE events, with the country offering its breathtaking landscapes, high-end accommodations, and signature Filipino hospitality. The Philippines’ appeal as a wedding destination was solidified when Cebu was awarded Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination by the World Travel Awards in 2024.
With the ongoing developments in tourism infrastructure, improved accessibility through the Philippine e-Visa system for Indian nationals, and anticipated direct flights from India to Manila by 2025, these initiatives are expected to facilitate seamless travel experiences for Indian wedding planners and corporate event organizers alike.
RHR executives that accompanied Mr. Jolly included Vice President Annalyn Yap and General Manager Jose Marie Delgado Ouano III.
Meanwhile, Secretary Frasco was joined in the meeting by Undersecretaries Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, Verna Buensuceso, Maria Rica Bueno; Assistant Secretaries Sharlene Batin, Judilyn Quiachon; and Director Arlene Alipio.
