RUSSIA announced it will establish more military cooperation with Iran amid reports that Washington has asked Tehran to stop selling drones to Moscow.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that its military cooperation with Iran will withstand geopolitical pressure.
In a report published by the Russian State News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stressed that Russia and Iran are “independent states and do not succumb to the dictates of the United States and its satellites.”
Western media reported that the U.S. is pressing Iran to stop selling the unmanned Kamikaze unmanned drones which it claimed is being used to attack Ukraine.
Such drones do not need a runway to launch and explode on impact.
Iran on the other hand said it had been sending drones to Russia before the invasion started while Moscow denied its troops have been using Iranian drones in Ukraine.
Moreover, talks are underway between Washington and Iran for a prisoner exchange deal to release billions of frozen funds that are under US sanction in South Korea.
The news comes a week after a military delegation from Iran arrived in Moscow to discuss cooperation between Iranian and Russian Ground Forces.
