Russian Forces Claim Capture of Ukrainian Village near Avdiivka

SIEVERNE or Severnoye, a small town in the Avdiivka direction of Donetsk has come under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

This advancement follows the recent capture of Avdiivka earlier this month, signaling ongoing Russian efforts to assert their dominance in the war-torn region.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, their troops had successfully taken Sieverne, along with securing more advantageous positions and lines of defense.

In contrast, Ukraine’s military spokesperson Dmytro Lykhoviy said that their forces had voluntarily withdrawn from Sieverne and Stepove, an area adjacent to Avdiivka.

Russian forces took Avdiivka just over a week ago.

On February 17, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky stated that he ordered the withdrawal of units in a ‘switch to defence on more favourable lines’.

Meanwhile, US NSC spokesman John Kirby admitted the seriousness of the situation on the battlefield and talked about Ukraine’s lack of ammunition as a priority.

‘’The situation is dire. As I said, the Russians not only took Adeevka, they’ve taken a couple of other towns and villages in just the last 48, 72 hours. These guys, these Ukrainian soldiers on the, on the front, I mean, they’re making some real tough decisions about what they’re gonna shoot at and what they’re going to shoot at it with, and they’re running out of bullets, and it’s not as Jake said the other day. It’s not running out of courage, it’s running out of bullets,’’ US NSC spokesman John Kirby said.
