A local court ordered a Russian politician to pay a hefty fine for insulting Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russian politician Mikhail Abdalkin went viral after a video of him hanging noodles from his ears while watching Russian President Vladimir Putin’s address surfaced online.
A court in Russia’s Samara region slammed Abdalkin for his act, saying it discredits Russia’s armed forces.
The court ordered the politician to pay a fine of around $2,000 for mocking Putin during his annual address.
In Russia, the phrase “to hang noodles on someone’s ears” colloquially means to “lie to someone” especially when false information is provided to deceive another person.
The Russian politician made the viral video of an address delivered by Putin on February 21 which was heavily criticized by his fellow party members and several senior Russian officials.
