Sen. Imee Marcos opposes arrest order against Pastor Quiboloy

SEN. Imee Marcos reiterated her opposition to the arrest of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ for his appearance in the Senate.

During a press briefing in Pangasinan on Wednesday, the elder sister of President Bongbong Marcos Jr. said that the Senate’s move could potentially be used for political purposes.

The senator insisted that she sees no legislative purpose in the ongoing Senate investigation involving Pastor Apollo.

“I don’t want the Senate to be dragged into issues that are already being discussed in court. For me, don’t use the Senate, that’s not proper,” Sen. Imee Marcos

In the Senate, particularly in Senator Risa Hontiveros’s Committee on Women, Children, and Gender Equality, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy faces various allegations.

But for Senator Imee, this is not the appropriate venue because it is not within the Senate’s mandate to conduct trials.

She further stated that the accusations against Pastor Apollo are already in court, so the Senate investigation should not continue.

“The Senate is not a prosecutorial body, we only recommend new legislation. It is important that we stay within our mandate,” added Sen. Imee.

The Senate, through Risa Hontiveros’s committee, issued an arrest order against Pastor Apollo.

But based on earlier statements from the honorable Pastor, he will not comply with it. Pastor Apollo also reiterated his constitutional rights and even challenged Honteveros to take her complaint to court.
