Six Abu Sayyaf Group members lay down arms in Sulu

SIX Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members voluntarily returned to the folds of the law and turned over their firearms during a presentation ceremony at the 1101st Infantry Brigade’s headquarters in Bud Bayug, Talipao, Sulu on January 19, 2024.

The former ASG members, who will be enrolled under the Localized Social Integration Program (LSIP), surrendered through the collaborative efforts of 41st Infantry “Partner for Peace” Battalion, 11th Military Intelligence Battalion of the 11th Infantry Division and the Tactical Operations Group Sulu/Tawi-Tawi (TOGSULTAW) of the Philippine Air Force.

The Army leadership lauded the 11ID troops and their security partners for facilitating the surrender of the six ASG members who have willingly embraced peace in Sulu.

The 11ID leadership meanwhile called on remaining members of local terrorist groups to lay down their arms to pave way for the sustained peace and progress in the province.
