SOPHIA, the world’s first humanoid robot to be granted citizenship and holds her very own passport, returns to Dubai.
The humanoid robot has been turning heads since she was activated by Hong Kong-based company Hanson robotics in February 2016.
She has been traveling around the world speaking at conferences and participating in various events.
Sophia was the first AI robot to be granted legal personhood in any country and was granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia in 2017.
She has her own Instagram account which boasts more than 200,000 followers.
Earlier this week, Sophia posted a sneak peek of her visit to Art Dubai and said she was amazed by the immersive audio-visual art installation which includes AI data paintings and sculptures.
The intelligent social humanoid robot also confirmed she enjoyed being immersed in art and culture, especially if it includes AI and raising awareness about climate change.
Sophia visited the UAE around 5 times since she was activated, and in 2017, she was named one of the five knowledge Ambassadors by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.
