AIMING to serve in the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP), 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Criminology student in the Solis Institute of Technology, Kyle Calingacion is now close to realizing his dream, thanks to a scholarship program supported by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth.
Kyle, a diligent scholar from Bulan, Sorsogon, expressed his deep gratitude for the financial support he received through the CHED, which has allowed him to continue his studies without the burden of heavy expenses.
“Kapag nakapagtapos na po ako, balak ko mag-review for bar exam for criminologist. Balak ko po mag-apply sa Philippine National Police,” said Kyle.
He highlighted how the scholarship has helped him stay on track toward his career aspirations.
“Sa pamamagitan po ng CHED TDP na sinusuportahan ni Senator Bong Go, nagpapasalamat po ako na malapit na po ako makapagtapos,” he added.
Kyle also hopes that more students like him will benefit from similar initiatives, as education plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the youth.
“Senator Kuya Bong Go, sana po ay ipagpatuloy ninyo ang malasakit sa kabataang Pilipino,” he expressed, acknowledging the senator’s continued support for education programs.
Senator Bong Go has been a strong advocate for accessible education and has consistently pushed for programs that provide financial assistance to underprivileged students.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening other educational initiatives to ensure that more Filipino students, like Kyle, have the opportunity to finish their studies and achieve their dreams.
The passage of Republic Act No. 12077, also known as the Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies Act, underscores Senator Go’s dedication to upholding the dignity of Filipinos in times of crisis. As a co-sponsor and co-author of the law, he has helped ensure that students with existing loans receive temporary financial relief during emergencies and calamities.
Senator Go earlier co-authored and co-sponsored RA 11510, which institutionalizes the Alternative Learning System (ALS) to improve basic education delivery to underserved and disadvantaged students; RA 11984, or the “No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act”, which prohibits educational institutions from denying students the right to take exams due to unpaid fees; RA 12006 or the “Free College Entrance Examinations Act”, waiving entrance exam fees at private higher educational institutions for qualified top students; as well as RA 11997, or the “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act,” which increases the teaching supply allowances for public school teachers.
“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo, at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah,” underscored Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
For students like Kyle, the scholarship is more than just financial aid—it is an opportunity to achieve their goals and contribute to society. His story is a testament to how government support can empower aspiring professionals and shape a better, more secure future for the nation.
