South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff seeking organizational changes

SOUTH Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) is pursuing changes within its organization by downsizing its staff by 10%.

Due to these changes, some of the terminated JCS personnel are expected to be given new jobs in managing military assets.

JCS is known for taking cautious steps in creating a new organization to manage the drone operations command which is scheduled to be launched later this year.

According to a military official, they are considering organizational changes for an optimized organization to drive defense innovation 4.0.

Under Defense Innovation 4.0, South Korea wants to incorporate new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and robots into its military to deal with the decreasing population that is caused by the country’s low birthrate.
