KUMPIYANSA ang Department of Energy (DOE) na hindi kukulangin ang suplay ng kuryente hanggang matapos ang taong 2022.
Iniulat ni Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla sa Senate Committee Hearing on Energy ang power situation sa bansa.
Batay sa power outlook ng DOE, maaring hindi makuha ang required na contingency reserves sa afternoon peak para sa Luzon grid.
“We are in danger of not meeting the required contingency reserves in the month of October. In August we have already passed that fortunately there were no interruptions,” pahayag ni Lotilla.
Sa Visayas, mayroong stranded power na ang ibig sabihin, may sapat na suplay ng kuryente partikular na sa Isla Negros.
Pero ayon kay Lotilla na hindi ito magagamit dahil walang sapat na transmission lines para dalhin ito sa Cebu at sa iba pang parte ng Visayas.
Subalit aniya may sobrang suplay ng kuryente naman mula sa Luzon na dinadala sa pamamagitan ng submarine cable patungo sa Visayas grid.
Sa evening peak, iba naman ang sitwasyon kung saan sa Visayas grid, mayroon banta ng red at yellow alerts.
Sa Mindanao grid, may over capacity ng kuryente pero hindi pa rin ito maidadala sa Visayas.
“There is actually over capacity in the island of Mindanao and we cannot bring this to the Visayas because of the submarine cable transmission lines have not yet been completed,” saad ni Lotilla.
Sa huli pagtitiyak ni Lotilla na sapat ang suplay ng kuryente sa bansa hanggang Disyembre 2022.
“Only for this up to the end of this year Mr. Chairman but we are reviewing the supply demand outlook the entire 2023 because we have lost the fuel for Ilijan which is 1900 megawatts,” dagdag ni Lotilla.
