THE Philippine Senate building in Pasay City started their Tuesday morning by hearing the loud noises made by thousands of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy’s supporters outside their premises.
The noise barrage was held a day after the successful Power and Freedom Return to the People Prayer Rally at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
According to Carlo Catiil, a minister of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, this is their way of condemning Senator Risa Hontiveros’ alleged harassment against Pastor Apollo.
“This is our action— our way of showing that we want to stop the abuse, the trampling on the human rights of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy. Sen. Hontiveros is asking if Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy will attend. How can he attend when you have already prejudged him in your Senate Hearing? Our call, for a long time now, is to file a case in court— that is the proper venue,” said Carlo Catiil, Minister, KOJC.
Catiil believes that Hontiveros is doing this to Pastor Apollo, not in aid of legislation but in aid of election.
“Senator Hontiveros, you are trying to make yourself look good. These false witnesses— there’s just a few of them— we can count them on our fingers. But all of these [supporters] are not paid. None of them are masked. No hidden faces. No aliases. No scripts. These are all from our hearts because we know where we stand. This is the truth,” exclaimed Catiil.
Some personalities also joined the noise barrage to express solidarity for Pastor Apollo, including veteran journalist Jay Sonza and the anchors of “Laban Kasama ang Bayan,” Dr. Lorraine Badoy, and Jeffrey “Ka Eric” Celiz.
Sonza advised Hontiveros to stop what she was doing against Pastor Apollo.
“To Senator Hontiveros, stop it. It’s over. The DOJ has taken the case already. The DOJ says, “We’ve got this.” That is the job of the DOJ. It’s not the job of a legislator. Enough with the theatrics. Whatever your plans are, it’s senseless,” said Jay Sonza, Veteran Journalist.
“Risa, don’t be stupid. You’ve done a lot of stupid things. Don’t continue this anymore, it’s embarrassing,” he added.
Dr. Badoy encouraged the public to stand up, assert their rights, and stop the oppression of abusive government officials.
“If they can do this to Pastor, who is very well-loved, well-known, a powerful person in his own right, what do you think they’ll do to all of us? Risa Hontiveros can oppress us all,” said Dr. Lorraine Badoy, Anchor, Laban Kasama ang Bayan.
“If you’re just watching and you think this doesn’t concern you, the day will come when a tyrant like Risa Hontiveros will do the same to you if you remain silent. Is this the kind of country we want to leave to our children?” she added.
Pastor Apollo’s relatives also condemned Hontiveros’ Senate hearing.
“All the accusations against our beloved Pastor are lies. We know our uncle because we grew up with him. He advised us on how to stand and follow the truth. We are here to fight for the truth that all the accusations against our uncle are baseless,” said Adonai Quiboloy, Nephew of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.
Pastor Apollo’s relative also has a challenge for Hontiveros.
“You should pray and, if possible, join us here to gain enlightenment. Our Pastor has committed no wrongdoing. Instead, he spreads goodness,” he added.
Former members of Pastor Quiboloy’s ministry also joined the noise barrage in front of the Senate Building to refute the accusations against the revered pastor.
“What Senator Risa Hontiveros did is not fair because that hearing is biased. We call that hearing the “hearing of rumors” because there’s no evidence. That hearing is biased because what Sen. Risa Hontiveros speaks are lies from ex-workers who are speaking falsehoods,” said Gerwin Panulde, Former Member of Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
“The only goal of Pastor’s ex-workers is to lie and make false accusations against our beloved Pastor, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy. None of what they’re saying is true. So, we also ask you to invite us to the Senate so we can also speak the truth,” also said Rose Gastilo, former member of KOJC.
Meanwhile, rallies will continue in the coming days until justice is achieved for Pastor Apollo.
