SWEDEN’s sixteenth package of military aid to Ukraine is the largest the country has provided since the Russian invasion in February 2022.
The latest aid announced was worth 13 billion kronor or about 1.23 billion dollars.
Sweden will also donate two radar surveillance and command aircraft to Ukraine alongside training and technical equipment.
The ASC-890 aircraft can spot threats hundreds of kilometers away and will help boost Ukraine’s ability to hit targets in the air and sea.
The surveillance aircraft will also complement the F-16 fighter jets that the United States and other NATO allies plan on sending to Ukraine.
The new pledge was announced right after Sweden pledged additional military support worth $7 billion last week.
Sweden recently became the first country that allow Ukraine to use its weapons in its war against Russia.
Its humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine has now exceeded 100 billion Swedish krona or over $9 billion since February 2022.
