TINIYAK ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) ang mga hakbang upang matiyak na ang libreng Wi-Fi program nito ay hindi magagamit para sa mga ilegal na aktibidad.
Ayon kay DICT Undersecretary Jeffrey Ian Dy, mayroong mga sensor na aktwal na nag-scan sa dark web, bilang surface web.
Ito’y upang malaman nang maaga kung ang ilang data ay na-hack at ibinebenta sa publiko o kung may child pornography.
“So, it’s a very technical discussion but we’ll put in devices, we’ll put in sensors to ensure that this network is not used for illegal activities.”
“For example, if you use our free Wi-Fi sites, I’m telling you right now you can’t use it for child pornography et cetera. In fact, we’re going to the extra mile in order to make sure that you’re not misusing it,” ayon kay Usec. Jeffrey Ian Dy, DICT.
Samantala, sinabi ng opisyal ng DICT na inaprubahan ng National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board ang flagship Philippine Digital Infrastructure Project (PDIP) sa ika-18 pulong sa Malakanyang.
Ang PDIP ay idinisenyo upang palakasin ang broadband connectivity sa buong bansa, partikular sa mga malalayong lugar.
Palalakasin din aniya nito ang cybersecurity.
Iniulat ni Dy na target ng DICT na makapagbigay ng 772 libreng Wi-Fi sites na nakatutok sa Regions XI at XIII sa Mindanao.
Partikular sa mga lugar na may public schools at rural health centers.
“We hope to start procurement by early next year. So, progressive siya but we should be able to complete by 2028 including nga iyong fiber backbone. Even though we’ll complete in 2028, the entire project is a 10-year project. So progressively, from 2025 to 2035, the entire free Wi-Fi sites that we will be building will be sustainable ‘no,” saad nito
