ON Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken revealed that Israel has accepted a U.S. proposal aimed at resolving differences with Hamas and securing a ceasefire.
However, in Tehran, many residents question the United States’ commitment to mediating a ceasefire in Gaza.
Some residents said in interviews with China Media Group that the U.S. policy towards the Middle East has always been full of contradictions, chaos, and division.
Ali Reza, a local resident, suggests that the U.S. may be more interested in maintaining its influence in the Middle East rather than genuinely resolving the conflict.
“The U.S. aims to dominate the Middle East. The U.S. wants to maintain this situation because it serves its own interest. That’s why it does not really want to mediate the relationship between Israel and Palestine, but rather to preserve its status as a superpower in the Middle East,” Ali Reza, a resident of Tehran said.
Mehdi, another Tehran resident, criticizes the U.S. for its actions in Gaza and other regional conflicts, accusing it of exacerbating rather than alleviating suffering.
“You can see the so-called ‘sincerity’ of the U.S. when the people of Gaza are facing starvation, and instead of sending food, the U.S. supplies bombs to Israel. This ‘sincerity’ is also evident in the U.S. support for Israel’s killing of Gazans, in the Syrian war, and in the assassination attempts against Haniya. America’s ‘sincerity’ means blood on their hands,” Mehdi, resident said.
Other residents accused the U.S. of attempting to destabilize the Middle East by fermenting color revolution and war.
“The U.S. is unable to bring security. Countries in the region have the ability to maintain security without interference from another nation. The presence of the U.S. in Afghanistan has made it clear that its role is more about destabilizing than creating stability. In my opinion, the U.S. has no role in maintaining security, it only creates chaos and attempts to dominate the world,” Ali added.
Recently, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani also said in a press conference that the United States is unsuitable for the role in mediating the Gaza ceasefire negotiations due to its strong alliance with Israel.
