Thailand set up help centers for Thai nationals stranded in Sudan

THE Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center established help centers following the outbreak of violent clashes in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.

AT least 210 Thai students are currently facing difficulties in the war-torn African nation.

6 Thai workers have been deployed in the conflict zone.

The help center is located at the Agency’s Help Center in Yala.

Fighting in Sudan erupted on April 15 between the army chief and the commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Both sides battle for control over Sudan while clashes returned in the capital city a few hours after a truce went into effect.

The weeklong violence has killed hundreds of people and injured thousands more, putting Sudan’s population at the breaking point.

Many hospitals were forced to shut down and others are running out of supplies, which sparked fears that the country’s medical system was on the verge of collapse.

The purpose of the help center is to address the needs of the affected students and update their families back home.
