THE General Secretariat of the UAE Cabinet received nearly 5,000 applications from aspiring candidates within seven hours after the ruler of Dubai invited young men and women nationwide to apply as the next youth minister of the UAE.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the invitation online.
“To our young sons and daughters in the United Arab Emirates, I am looking for a distinguished young man or woman who represents youth issues, conveys their opinions, and follows government matters that concern them, to become a Minister of Youth with us in the UAE government,” according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, an ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of “homeland issues,” maintain a “rational approach”, be courageous and strong in representing his country, and be “passionate about serving the homeland”.
The UAE leaders urged “competent, capable, and honest” Emirati youth to send their applications to the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs. The open invitation attracted 4,700 applicants within the first seven hours.
Meanwhile, the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also emphasized the important role of the youth in the country’s future.
The UAE President described the youth as the real wealth of the country and not its 3 million barrels of oil, adding that they are the future of the nation and that the UAE leaders are taking steps to establish the vision for the next 50 years.
The UAE has made significant steps in engaging the Emirati youth in recent years. The latest move showed how UAE leaders value the country’s young men and women and their contributions towards the nation’s development.
