“Two countries, one destination” under this concept, Thailand seeks to officially seal the deal for a two-way tourism initiative with the Philippines before the end of the year.
Thai Ambassador to the Philippines Tull Traisorat said a memorandum of understanding could be signed between Thailand and the Philippines by June or even before that.
Under the initiative, Thailand and the Philippines would ramp up promotions to encourage two-way tourism and tourists from third countries to visit destinations from their both countries.
Both sides will also encourage tourists to make the Philippines or Thailand their second stop.
The Thai ambassador said the Philippines and Thailand need to work on establishing a direct flight between popular destinations given the distance between the two Southeast Asian states.
The Philippines has offered to renew and update the Implementing Program of Cooperation with Thailand after it expires in 2022.
Both countries has a lot to offer in terms of tourism and are both a popular destination for foreigners.

Thailand and the Philippines will mark 75 years of diplomatic ties on June 14, 2024, which could also be the date when the tourism deal will be signed.
