U.S. under white-out conditions; Temperatures drop dangerously

A brutal and chilling arctic blast has caused a series of disruptions in several parts of the United States.

Thousands of flights were cancelled on Friday while hundreds of thousands are without power.

This as a major winter storm has unleashed icy winds and heavy snowfall in many states.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has already issued multiple weather warnings for every state, and places including Louisiana and Arkansas are already under a state of emergency.

More than a hundred million people were issued high wind warnings, at least 48 million people issued winter storm warnings, while over 5 million are under blizzard warnings.

Temperatures as low as -40 to -50 degrees Celsius were reported in some areas, and at least 2 people have already died in connection to the severe weather.

More than 25-M people from Washington to Illinois are under wind chill alerts where frostbite could occur in as little as 10 minutes on exposed skin.

Southern states were also affected including parts of Texas where the NWS has warned of hypothermia and frostbite.

Meanwhile, natural gas prices shot up more than 400% as a deep freeze is set to hit the lone star state.

Former President Donald Trump cancelled his campaign event in IOWA on Friday due to extreme weather in the state that saw nearly 10 inches of snow ahead of the election season kicking off on Monday, January 15th.

It is expected that the cold will spread south and east across the country lasting into the middle of next week.
