UAE starts trade talks with New Zealand

NEW Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay met Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade in Dubai, with a joint declaration of intent confirming the agreement signed after the talks.

The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) is an exciting phase for New Zealand as it will allow the country tariff-free access to markets in the Gulf region.

The UAE is New Zealand’s largest trade partner in the Middle East, with non-oil trade between the countries reaching USD764.5 million in 2023.

The trade talks with New Zealand happened days after similar negotiations with India, Ukraine, and the Philippines.
