Wales Barrio Fiesta a resounding success

THE Filipino community in Wales successfully held their Barrio Fiesta at Margam Park, Wales. Building on the success of last year’s event, the Filipino-Welsh community in Wales celebrated this year’s Barrio Fiesta with a two-day event at Margam Country Park on June 15th and 16th, 2024. This unique celebration brought the richness of Filipino culture to the heart of Wales.

Barrio Fiesta Wales, one of the registered Filipino community organizations with the Embassy of the Philippines in London, provided a wonderful opportunity for the Filipino community to share their heritage with the wider population, showcasing traditional music, dance, games, and, of course, delicious Filipino cuisine.

The festival not only promoted cultural understanding and diversity but also strengthened community bonds. Highlights included raffle draws, entertainment, and surprises, with special guests Pepita Curtis and Ian Red bringing joy and laughter to all attendees.

Organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed their time and effort. Chairman Hugh dela Cruz emphasized the importance of community support, stating, “Our journey wouldn’t be possible without the Filipino people.”

Finally, a special thank you was extended to the community members and Welsh neighbors whose participation made the event memorable. The organizers promised an even bigger, better, and more spectacular Barrio Fiesta in 2025.
