‘Wanted’ posters seen in Russia for ICC prosecutor behind Putin’s arrest warrant

WANTED posters of International Criminal Court (ICC) figures, namely, Prosecutor Karim Khan and ICC Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala were seen in Moscow.

According to Russian reports, the wanted posters of the ICC figures were spotted on various public notice boards located in the Northwestern part of Moscow.

Citing relevant articles of the Russian criminal code, the accompanying text in the wanted posters says that both ICC officials are absconding from the investigative agencies.

Khan and Aitala are charged with attacking a person or entity enjoying international protection and with instituting criminal proceedings against a knowingly innocent person, and both were illegally opening a criminal case.

The people of Russia are encouraged to relay to the police any information that may lead to the detention of the officials.

It still remains unclear, however, if it was Russian authorities who posted the images of the two ICC officers, although the posts resemble other official notices issued by the Russian police.

Authorities in Russia have yet to comment on the matter.

It can be remembered that last Friday, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan was put on Russia’s wanted list, to which ICC member states responded by saying that they were deeply concerned about Russia’s move.

Meanwhile, the Russian investigative committee said that there were no grounds for criminal liability against Putin.

The Kremlin, on the other hand, dismissed the ICC arrest warrant for Putin as null and void.
