Zelenskyy had ‘intense’ talk with Hungarian PM Orban in Argentina

UKRAINIAN President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was seen speaking with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the inauguration ceremony held for Argentina’s new president, Javier Milei in Buenos Aires.

The video, published by the Argentine Senate, shows Zelenskyy and Orban looking and talking intently at each other, and gesturing as they speak. Although the video had no audio.

Following the inauguration, Zelenskyy mentioned that he had a frank conversation with Orban, without giving further details.

“On the sidelines of the inauguration, I spoke with Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán. It was a highly straightforward conversation, focused on our European affairs,” according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President, Ukraine.

It can be remembered that Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Andrey Yermak, said last week that he was trying to arrange a formal meeting between Zelenskyy and Orban.

But Orban’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the meeting between the two leaders would only make sense if there was some chance that it would have a positive outcome.

Hungary is a member of the European Union and NATO, and its Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, has repeatedly argued that the EU should reconsider its policies regarding Ukraine, including pledge to provide assistance as well as its accession to the EU.

He recently told news outlet Le Point that although he was in favor of boosting cooperation with Ukraine, bringing Kyiv into the European Union would be a bad decision.

He also does not believe that Ukraine has met 4 out of the seven requirements to join the E.U. and that Ukraine is known to be one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

“It is simply false. Ukraine is known to be one of the most corrupt countries in the world. It’s a joke,” said Viktor Orban, Prime Minister, Hungary

Orban poses as a possible figure that stands in the way of the EU’s plan to provide 50 billion euros in economic aid and 500 million euros in military aid to Ukraine.

He also published a video on X saying that Ukraine’s EU accession does not coincide with Hungary’s interests. He also criticized the bloc for insisting on the accession without assessing the consequences for European taxpayers and farmers.
