1 killed, 22 injured, vigil pays tribute to victim, injured in Super Bowl victory parade shooting

A vigil was held on Thursday night to pay tribute to Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old radio DJ who was killed on Wednesday in a deadly mass shooting at a rally celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl victory in Kansas City of the United States, and extend blessings to 22 others injured in the shooting.

The vigil took place in a park next to a hospital where several children injured in the shooting are receiving treatment and recovering.

Some of those who attended the vigil were close friends of Lopez-Galvan.

“She was a big voice in our community. And it is just heartbreaking. I knew her as a teenager. Such a tragic event. Should have never happened. Should have never happened,” said Rosina Valdivia, friend of Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

“It is just tragic. It is senseless. It shouldn’t have happened. People just want to quickly go to weapons instead of words. She is like a shining star. Literally, since last night, I have been looking up to the sky looking for stars,” said Christina Nunez, another friend of Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

Teens charged over Super Bowl victory parade shooting IN KANSAS

22 people were wounded in Wednesday’s shooting and half of them are children.

Two teenagers– both aged under 18, have been in police custody while the investigation is still underway.

A third person who was initially detained after the shooting, has been released

Authorities say they believe a dispute between several people prompted the incident.

Gun Violence Archive, a non-profit organization which tracks gun-related incidents, said that this was the 49th mass shooting in the United States this year alone. Some of the speakers at the vigil, called for action on gun control.
