THAILAND’s Department of Protocol reported that more than 20,000 Thais remain in Israel, with most of them choosing to stay in the country for financial reasons.
Around 30,000 Thais work in Israel, most of them in the agriculture sector.
The department said that the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv is operating normally and is ready to accommodate citizens who wish to return to the country.
According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, 24 Thai nationals have been abducted, 19 were injured, 34 were killed, and more than 7,000 people have returned home since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out.
Of this number, three hostages were declared missing and another one has been abducted.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed hope that the hostages might be released in the event of a ceasefire.
The labor ministry said that most Thai workers preferred to stay in Israel amid the ongoing conflict in order to pay off their debts back home and out of fear that they would be unable to earn the same salary back home.
Thailand is one of the countries with the most number of citizens killed and injured from the ongoing conflict alongside the United States.
