PINANGUNAHAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. ang ginawang year-end command conference ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) para sa taong 2023.
Ito ang kinumpirma ni AFP chief of staff, Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr. sa panayam ng media sa Kampo Aguinaldo araw ng Lunes.
“We just had our year-end 2023 Command Conference and this command conference was attended by the no less than by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, His Excellency President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” ayon kay Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr., Chief of Staff, AFP.
Ayon kay Gen. Brawner na sa naturang command conference rin ibinigay ng Pangulo ang kaniyang mga direktiba ngayong taong 2024.
Partikular na ang paglaban sa local communist terrorist group (CTG), patuloy na pagtatanggol sa soberenya ng Pilipinas sa mga pinag-aagawang teritoryo at ang pagtugon sa mga sakuna.
“We need to deal with the communist terrorist groups the local terrorist groups the threats we are facing in the West Philippine Sea and of course ‘yun pong mga natural disasters all of this. Lahat po ng mga threats na ito ay siyang nagbibigay ng challenge sa ating Armed Forces of the Philippines,” dagdag ni Brawner.
Paliwanag pa ng heneral, nais aniya ng Pangulo na magkaroon ng mga panibagong paraan ang AFP sa pagtugon sa iba’t ibang banta sa seguridad sa bansa.
“Nabanggit po ng ating Pangulo that we think of new ways of dealing within innovative ways. That is why we really have to make sure study all of these things very carefully, so that we come up with the necessary solutions,” saad ni Brawner.
Ngunit nilinaw nito na nais lamang ng Pangulo ng mga panibagong inobasyon at wala aniyang nakikita ang Pangulo na mali sa kasalukuyang paraan at ginagawa ng AFP.
“He didn’t say that he did not say that there is something wrong with current organization that we have what he meant that we have to reconfigure in order to addressing the threats,” wika ni Brawner.
Sinabi naman ni Brawner bilang commander in chief ng AFP na sila ay bukas sa lahat ng derektiba ng Pangulo at sisiguruhin nila na ang kanilang mga gawain, polisiya, at programa ay nakalinya sa utos ng Pangulo.
“This very welcomed, we welcome the guidance of the President of course dahil siya ang commander in chief namin, we will follow the orders that he gave.”
“Lahat po na gagawin naming mga plano even the policies and the programs that we’re going to do will be aligned with the pronouncements,” aniya.
Samantala, sa kaperohong araw rin ipinakilala ni Gen. Brawner si Col. Francel Padilla bilang bagong tagapagsalita ng AFP kapalit ni Col. Medel Aguilar na mananatili naman bilang deputy chief ng Civil Relations Group.
