ITINALAGA na bilang bagong hepe ng Philippine Army si 4th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr.
Sa bisa ng isang letter-endorsement at sa rekomendasyon ng high command ng Armed Forces of the Philippines at AFP Board of Generals, kinumpirma ang bagong posisyon ni Brawner epektibo Disyembre 7, 2021.
Papalitan ni General Brawner ang papaalis na AFP Chief of Staff na si Lt. Gen. Andres C. Centino, na nagsimulang manilbihan sa Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas noong Nobyembre 12.
Miyembro si Brawner ng Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1989 kung saan itinalaga din ito bilang Commandant of Cadets ng PMA sa Baguio City.
Nanilbihan din ito bilang Special Forces Officer, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Financial Management ng 4th ID sa Cagayan de Oro City.
Naging commander 103rd Brigade sa Marawi City, Army Spokesman at AFP Public Affairs Chief, at marami pang iba.
Ilan sa mga maipagmamalaki ni Brawner sa ilalim ng kanyang pamumuno bilang commanding officer ng 4th Infantry Division, ang ilan sa mga malalaking operasyon ng militar laban sa CPP NPA NDF.
Kabilang dito ang pagkakapaslang sa notorious NPA leader na si Jorge Madlos, alias Ka Oris, sa isang engkwentro sa Impasug-Ong town sa Bukidnon noong Oktubre 30.
Nauna na rin nitong tiniyak na hindi na magtatagal ang pwersa ng mga NPA sa bansa sa pakikipagtulungan ng mamamayan sa mabilis na pagsusumbong ng mga iligal na gawain ng mga rebelde sa mga kanayunan at kabundukan.
Katuwang din ang heneral sa mga ipinatutupad na programa ng pamahalaan sa paghahatid ng tulong at serbisyo sa ilalim ng anti insurgency program ng gobyerno na NTF-ELCAC
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Acting Presidential Spokesperson Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles ipinaabot nito sa opisyal ang pahayag ng Palasyo na ipagpapatuloy ni General Brawner ang reform initiatives sa pagbabago sa sangay ng Armed Forces of the Philippines bilang isang professional organization.
“The Palace confirms that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has approved the designation of Maj. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. as Commanding General of the Philippine Army,” pahayag ni Nograles.
” The Palace is confident that Brawner will continue the reform initiatives his predecessors pursued to transform the largest branch of the AFP into “a more dynamic and more professional organization true to its mandate to serve our people and secure our nation.”
Kinilala rin ni Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, ang mga tagumpay ni General Brawner partikular na sa pagiging beterano nito sa mga giyera, gaya ng Marawi siege.
“Our utmost confidence that he will be able to undertake his mandate in ensuring our national security at a wider scope efficiently and effectively is anchored on his proven and reputable successes, especially as a Marawi siege veteran, following his tenure as the former 4ID Commander in Region 10,” pahayag ni Andanar.
