DAHIL mataas na ang vaccination rate sa bansa, wala dapat ika-panic ang mga Pilipino sa kabila ng posibleng banta ng Omicron variant ayon kay OCTA research fellow Fr. Nicanor Austriaco.
Sabi ni Austriaco bagama’t mas nakakahawa ang Omicron kumpara sa Delta variant ay mas mababa naman ang posibilidad na ma-ospital at masawi ang mga positibo rito lalo na ang mga fully vaccinated.
Dagdag nito na mayroon nang herd immunity laban sa COVID-19 ang National Capital Region (NCR) kung kaya’t mapipigilan na nito ang hawaan ng virus.
“At this time, given our significantly high numbers of vaccination, not only in the NCR but in many of our cities. Secretary Vince just sent me the numbers for our cities and our first class municipalities, and many of them are quite significant, above 70 percent for the first dose at least. What we are seeing here is that at least the NCR, with nearly a hundred percent protection of the adults and with the increasing numbers of our teenagers, is probably going to be robustly protected against the future surge,” pahayag ni Austriaco.
Sa datos ng pamahalaan hanggang nitong Disyembre 6, umabot na sa 38,699,023 indibidwal sa buong bansa ang fully vaccinated na laban sa COVID-19.
