OPERATING troops of the 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB), 3rd Infantry Division neutralized 2 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members in an encounter at Hacienda Gomez, Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana, Negros Occidental on January 17, 2024.
The three-minute firefight resulted in the death of two CTG members who were abandoned by their fleeing comrades.
Moreover, 62IB troopers captured the following CTG war materiel at the encounter site: one AR15 rifle, one home-made shotgun, one caliber .45 pistol, magazines with serviceable ammunition, medical paraphernalia, two backpacks, subversive documents, and personal belongings.
The Army leadership lauded 62IB troopers for their dedication to serving the people and securing the people of Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, the 3ID leadership commended the local populace for their cooperation and unwavering support, which resulted in the successful operation against CTG remnants in the area.
