New York grand jury indicts Donald Trump

ON Thursday, Donald Trump became the very first United States former president to be indicted after a Manhattan grand jury decided that there was enough evidence to proceed with the charges filed against him.

The historic case made against was over allegations that Trump paid porn star Stormy Daniels with hush money during his 2016 presidential campaign.

However, it was not immediately made clear what the indictment was connected to, or what charges Trump will face as it remains under seal.

But it can be noted that the former president faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud.

Following the decision of the grand jury, Trump pointed out that the indictment against him was “political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history.”

In a statement, Trump said,

“Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done. The Democrats have cheated countless times over the decades, including spying on my campaign, but weaponizing our justice system to punish a political opponent, who just so happens to be a President of the United States and by far the leading Republican candidate for President, has never happened before.”

He also added,

“I believe this Witch-Hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden. The American people will realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it.”

Despite the charges faced by Trump, U.S. law does not prevent him from joining an election race therefore he can still run for president in the next election.

In addition, Trump’s lawyer has confirmed that the former president is set to appear before New York authorities.

He is expected to be arraigned next week Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the White House has refused to comment on the situation.
