Millions seek medical help from Thailand’s worsening pollution

MILLIONS of people in Thailand have sought for medical help amid the worsening air pollution in the country.

The Public Health Department collected the data since the start of the year.

Most of the medical issues recorded include respiratory problems, dermatitis, eye inflammation, and sore throats.

Health officials have advised the public to use high-quality N95 anti-pollution masks, to minimize time outside, to exercise indoors, and to close windows and doors.

Experts blamed the smoke from forest fires and the farmers’ burning crop stubble for the worsening pollution and toxic smog choking some parts of the country.

As the country endures the alarming pollution, the Meteorology Department issued an “extreme heat” warning for Bangkok and three other provinces on Friday, with policymakers being encouraged to prepare the country for the challenges of climate change.
