THE Armed Forces of the Philippines honored Major General Marvin L Licudine as he stepped down from his post as Commander of the AFP Education, Training and Doctrine Command (AFPETDC) in a Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony, held on January 25, here.
The ceremony was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr., marking the retirement of Major General Marvin L Licudine, who officially handed over his duties to the incoming Acting Commander, Commodore Richard N Gonzaga.
MGen Licudine, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989, dedicated 40 years of exemplary service. He held key positions, including Commander of the 45th Infantry Battalion where he contributed much for the stability of Central Mindanao; as Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché at the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Beijing; and as non-resident attaché to Pakistan, Mongolia and North Korea. MGen Licudine holds a Master’s Degree in Management Major in Public Administration (MMPA) from the Philippine Christian University (PCU).
Meanwhile, prior his appointment, Commodore Gonzaga served as the Fleet Inspector General and Commander of Naval Task Force 61, Naval Forces Western Mindanao. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992 and holds a Master’s degree in Maritime Policy from the University of Wollongong in South Wales, Australia.
In his address, General Brawner expressed gratitude to MGen Licudine for his significant contributions, emphasizing the importance of leadership within the AFP. He also expressed confidence in Commodore Gonzales’ ability to uphold the legacy of excellence, stating,
“Today we honor an exemplary leader who embodies the principles of leadership, service, and excellence and welcome his successor to continue this legacy within the AFP Education, Training and Doctrine Command.”
