AS the host of the 2023 APEC Summit, U.S. President Joe Biden urged leaders to use what he calls the power of the Pacific to grow the regional economy and protect the planet from a climate crisis.
Biden also officially handed the APEC chair over to Peruvian President Dina Boluarte.
“So as we begin our discussion, I’d like to take a moment to pass the ceremonial torch from the United States to Peru. Madam President, Thank you and the floor is yours,” according to Pres. Joe Biden, United States of America.
U.S. transfers APEC chairmanship to Peru
The U.S. president shook hands with his Peruvian counterpart as he formally transferred over the year-long rotating chairmanship.
The leaders’ meeting, held in the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco on Thursday and Friday, gathered political and business leaders from 21 APEC member economies.
