DUBBED Dawn Caracha 2023, the joint military exercise between Australian and Filipino military troops is scheduled to take place from October 16 to 27 in Palawan— the largest province in the Philippines.
The 12-day bilateral exercise will focus on Counter-Terrorism Operations and special operations, according to Western Command of the Armed of the Philippines.
Dawn Caracha 2023 will involve some 80 soldiers and provide an opportunity for soldiers on both sides to showcase their capabilities and strengthen their partnership.
The El Nido town in Palawan known for its crystal clear waters and one of the beaches worldwide will serve as the backdrop of the military exercise.
The soldiers started their preparations with pre-exercise movements and operational briefings on Saturday.
The AFP Western Command is in charge of the islands of Palawan and the Kalayaan Island Group in the West Philippine Sea.
The upcoming bilateral exercise marks the second joint military exercise between the Philippines and Australia this year,
To note, Philippine and Australian military forces conducted Exercise Alon as part of the Indo-Pacific Endeavor 2023.
The joint drills held from August 14 to August 31 were also the first bilateral amphibious training activity between the AFP and the ADF.
Days before the upcoming exercise, foreign affairs and trade ministers from the Philippines traveled to Australia this week to attend the Philippines-Australia Ministerial Meeting or PAMM.
