U.S. President Joe Biden suggested that the United States could get directly involved if Israel and Iran go to war with each other.
Biden made the statement as fears of an Iranian strike could happen within days in retaliation for the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria last week.
Washington and its allies believe the revenge attack could come in the form of a missile strike from Iran.
Some experts believe Iran’s proxies in the region such as Hezbollah could come to its aid instead.
Iran said the Israeli airstrike in the Syrian capital of Damascus was equivalent to an attack on Iran itself and vowed to punish Israel.
If not through Hezbollah, experts said cyber attacks or targeting a consulate building linked to Israel is likely.
Israel on the other hand warned that an attempt by Iran to hurt the Israelis will be met with and powerful response.
The U.S. head of defense forces in the region plans to meet Israel’s senior military officials to prepare for what seems to be an imminent attack from Iran and its proxies.
