THE bodies of eight Thai nationals who were killed in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas have finally returned to their country as grieving families await their arrival.
For years, thousands of Thais have traveled to Israel and toiled hard on farms thousands of miles away from their home in the hope of giving their families a good life.
As fighting between Israel and Hamas intensifies, the bodies of eight Thai nationals who died in the war have been successfully repatriated.
Instead of a warm embrace, grieving families received the cold bodies of their loved ones at an airport in Bangkok.
The eight Thai nationals were part of those thousands who died since Hamas launched the deadly surprise attack in Israel on October 7.
As many as 30,000 Thais work and live in Israel, most of them toiling on farms as agricultural laborers.
About 5,000 of them were working on farms when the attack took place.
As many as 500 Thais have been evacuated safely back to the country after the government arranged charter flights on a daily basis.
The conflict has killed thirty Thais, with 16 others injured and an additional 17 citizens held hostage by Hamas.
More than 8,000 Thais have expressed their desire to return home since the war broke out.
