Brazil postpones anew visa requirements for U.S., Canada, Australia

AMERICAN, Canadian, and Australian citizens visiting Brazil can enter the South American country without a visa until the second week of April.

In 2019, former president Jair Bolsonaro scrapped the visa requirements for citizens from the said countries to boost the tourism sector.

The visa-free travel scheme was supposed to end on January 10, 2023.

However, current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva extended the deadline to April 10, 2023.

A government statement confirmed it is still finalizing the new visa system and wanted to avoid implementing it close to the high season.

Carnival festivities will take place in Brazil in February which attract thousands of tourists.

The current visa fee is priced at $80.90 with a 10-year validity.

Meanwhile, the U.S., Canada, and Australia continue to demand visas from Brazilians.
