Cagayan scholar pursues dream of becoming an accountant with Senator Bong Go’s support

MARIE Cris Ganotice has always envisioned herself in a crisp business suit, reviewing financial statements and making major corporate decisions. But for a 2nd year BS Accountancy student like her, the road to that dream is paved with challenges—not just academic hurdles but financial constraints that constantly test her resolve.

With tuition fees piling up and living expenses adding to the weight, Marie knew she had to find a way to ease the burden on her family. The Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) became that lifeline. Through the scholarship assistance that Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues to support, she was able to focus more on her studies and worry less about financial setbacks.

“So, ang CHED TDP Scholarship ay malaking tulong po para sa akin para mabawasan po or para hindi po ako mabigatan sa expenses ko po sa isipan,” she shared. Her priority upon receiving the assistance was clear—settle half of her tuition fees immediately, ensuring her parents wouldn’t have to scramble for funds.

“Ang una kong gagawin is babayaran ko po ‘yung half po ng tuition ko… So para hindi na mamroblema po ‘yung parents ko sa pagpapakuhanan ng pangbayad ng tuition,” she added.

Marie is one of many scholars who have benefited from the government’s push for inclusive and quality education, an effort that aligns with Senator Go’s advocacy. As the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth, Senator Go has continuously supported programs that help Filipino students achieve their academic goals, particularly those from low-income families who struggle with the rising cost of education.

Senator Go has been vocal about his belief that no Filipino student should be deprived of education due to financial constraints. Through his legislative work, he has pushed for initiatives that provide scholarships, financial aid, and additional learning resources for students nationwide. His support for CHED’s TDP has allowed more scholars like Marie to pursue their degrees with fewer worries.

Beyond financial relief, the assistance serves as motivation for scholars to push harder and aim higher. For Marie, the scholarship is not just about getting through college—it’s about realizing her bigger ambition.

“Next po is, gusto ko po maging CEO and businesswoman po,” she said, her voice hopeful. With the right education and opportunities, she believes she can turn that vision into reality.

Marie expressed her gratitude to Senator Go for being instrumental in making education more accessible.

“Maraming salamat po sa mga opportunity po na binibigay mo po sa mga students para makapag-aaral po sila ng mas magaan po ‘yung pag-aaral po nila. And more blessings to come po. Thank you po.”

Her message to Senator Go was simple but heartfelt: “Senator Bong, ipagpatuloy mo lang ang malasakit.”

As she continues her journey toward becoming an accountant, Marie carries the lessons of perseverance and gratitude. The financial assistance she received was more than just an aid—it was a stepping stone to a future she has long dreamed of, made possible through the government’s commitment to education and the malasakit that Senator Bong Go continues to extend to Filipino students.
